Tavy Dawn by PastyGuy Tavy Dawn by PastyGuy
Image

I spent two days spent at Tavy Cleave and a night camping on Sharp tor with ~Alex37, the conditions were mixed but or patience paid off.

I saw this composition after a reccie the day before and after a failed sunrise due to clouds to the east I sat patiently waiting for a break in the clouds. As the sun appeared it framed the three tors that overlook Tavy Cleave. My patience had paid off and I composed the heather in the foreground and made my exposures.

Location

Tavy Cleave, Dartmoor, Devon, UK

Very cool shot! The composition is very good. But if i did edited it I would try to make the purple wild flowers in the foreground stand out more. But you did a great job.

Thanks for your input but making the foreground the centre of attention might lose the viewers eye on the hilltops and sky.

Great composition and scenery in general but I feel it could use a tad more saturation. ;)

Thanks but I feel the saturation is at a tasteful level and don't feel the need to add more.

Sure thing, just my personal taste. But I guess a more natural approach works really good as well. ;)

This is very beautiful! I love the way that the sun's just peeking through a gap in the clouds so that the top is lit up but the rest is in shadow.

The rest is in shadow because of the hills to the right and thats what gives it such definition. Thank you

It's defiantly worth the visit too, this part of the moor is much more dramatic than the more subtle tors of the northern and eastern moorland.

It sure looks that way. I usually visit the southern part, mainly Sheepstor, Burrator and the surrunding area. Thanks for sharing.
